June 19 What really causes tooth decay . . .Some of you may know I have been discussing at other blogs, groups and forums
about the quality of our dental care in the healthcare arena: it still stinks BUT its not
so much the fault of the American dental association and fluoride but our own body !
It seems that everyone who produces saliva is producing an acid bath for their teeth.
Really, the information was confirmed today at yet a third dental visit in the last three
weeks from a trusted family dentist of mine and his new young colleague. It appears
that the food we eat like sugar, corn syrup, salt, hydrolized anything, BHT additives
etc IS NOT the main culprit; but rather what we drink is really causing major tooth
enamel decay ! Those fruity, sparkling or not, vitamin or not, fortified 'waters'
unless purified are full of acid ! Not battery acid but still highly corrosive to our
delicate gum tissue and supposedly resilient enamel.
Besides flavored, unflavored, vitamin-enriched or in absentia of, purified bottled
water is best but when its expensive and kids don't like it what do you go buy ?
You end up buying beverages like cola, tea, fruit juice with less than 100%
juice or spirits like brandies-cognac-whiskey-scotch & coffee which are very
high in the acid that adheres to the enamel instead of is repelled by it. Of
course smoking or inhaling anything certainly makes the problem worse
because it detracts from sending fresh oxygen-rich blood to the smallest
capillaries buried deep within the gums themselves.
The more oxygen-rich fresh blood is circulated through the 'dirtiest part' of
our body-the MOUTH, we become disadvantaged at beating the 'keep your
enamel healthy' game. Okay so you are thinking, "now what ? I am addicted
to those nasty beverages and really don't like milk or plain purified water
(meaning also NO FLUORIDE)", and my teeth and gums are suffering the
consequences. For me the sodapop and heavy spirits were not a problem
to avoid as the sugar would make me too hyper and coming down was bad as
a teenager so I figure it would only get worse so I avoid those two as often as
possible.
My huge addiction is MILK ! any percent including skim if I am desperate but
really enjoy Organic 2% blends. I drink 2-3 glasses everyday with something,
but I found that and the lactic acid in milk is not really a culprit either because
its different acid. I understood the difference between alkaline and acid-based
diets recording both food and beverages I ate and drank for several weeks
following the diagnosis of an ovarian benign cyst back in 2006. Learned alot
and found eating according to my bloodtype not only made sense but works
to keep the excess fat off but the muscle lean and properly nourished. This
healthy outlook is encouraged by realizing what your personal DNA helix can
and cannot accomplish.
In a nutshell, your own mouth can be your worst enemy even if you brush your
teeth & tongue three times a day, rinse with an oral antiseptic morning and
nite and avoid any sugary foods, you still might be experiencing tooth decay
because your saliva is just too acidic and you need serious neutralization . . .
June 11 Quality of Life pooped on !This is more of a pet peeve yet still highly relevant in getting someones attention.
How do you feel about your local list of dentists in your area, if you have seen
more than one, of course it makes this question easier to anser. Since mine
from childhood has nearly retired, I am out seeking others to give me the best
oral care I deserve at a reasonable price.
Well past a 'free exam that icludes x-rays ($185.oo) removed from my bill
which came to almost $2100.oo with interest included, but what made their
motto 'quality of living' a miserable truth--I would of had to pay $55o.oo on
the spot if they were to have the dental hygeinist continue with a 'soft tissue
management 2 package that had non-invasive non-surgical instruments scale
the excessive plaque that has nearly cement-resembling, adhered to my teeth
after an incredibly long period in between getting those teeth professionally
cleaned.
But hey this clinic, A.D. in various locations throughout Northeast Ohio, are
not so concerned about bringing your true smile back unless your wallet and
pride do not mind being ripped well you know, another orifice we don't need !
The audacity of this clinic to claim 'no money up front is needed but fail to tell
you that if they see a problem want to fix it, you must have cash, credit approved
or a check that covers a hefty price !
The 'quality of my life' immediately dropped when I learned in order for my quite
operable by this procedure for peridental disease (I have bone loss and suffer
from pockets between gum line and root--these collect debris no matter how well
or often you brush), to be started that i was to shell out $550.oo right there. Now
I am a writer, no excuse, but don't make enough to make my mortgage payment
from that so I supplement every way I can, but that is a huge lump of change for
most people including me. I was heart-broken that this system cares so little but
not so much that the particular facility kissed pharmaceutical and insurance company
ass so well ! That was what bothered me and now I am seeking a third opinion; while
creating a way to make my oral health more reasonable or at least fair . . .
So again I ask, how is the treatment of patient to dentist in your area ? June 06 Can your online buisiness do better ?For a better traffic generation program, our webmaster only
